There are a fair amount of art blacksmiths in europe. I know of many in 
germany, and italy.

I have found it is quite difficult to find blacksmithing books in 
europe, however- most bookstores tend to only have a few, and then 
usually only pictures of work, not how to.

I would really recommend you get a copy of  alexander weygers book  
"the complete modern blacksmith" as he wrote it based on setting up a 
shop where there were no other smiths or tools available, so it has 
lots of tricks for doing things with scrap and simple tools.

for only about 10 euros or so, plus shipping, and this would be a great 
book to read FIRST, before you spend any other money.
