[TheForge] OT - Yak Gun question

An incident on New Years Eve, here in Jackson, MS, a .38 bullet shot into
the air, penetrated the roof and ceiling of a home and cracked the tub in
the bathroom.
In New Orleans they expect at least one person to be killed from bullets
shot into the air.
My brother had a bullet go through the roof of his car 3 years ago. Bullets
falling from the sky can easily penetrate the skull. If I am not too
mistaken, a falling object can reach speeds of 150 mph or more. It would
take a pretty good arm to do that.

Subject: [TheForge] OT - Yak Gun question

I'm just hoping that someone will have the knowledge
to satisfy my curiosity.
There were a couple of incidents reported in the local
news about people being hit by bullets being fired
into the air. It doesn't seem logical to me that a
falling piece of lead would gain enough speed to do
anyone any real harm.
My guess would be something about like throwing the
spent bullets at them. Am I way off on the velocity
that a bullet world gain?
Thanks for allowing me an OT question,
Lynn

South Florida Fair coming up - for those FABA members
that would like to volunteer time or others that would
like to see an old time forge. See you there.
