Brian, I once had a customer that wanted Bronze chain. I did a search on
the Thomas Register......had lots of options then........all of them
pricey......but there are lots of places you'd have no idea of what they
make until you look in that business manufacturing base.
Might be worth a try - and I'm not familiar with anything but Gun Blue for
making dark color with chemicals - I try to stay away from acid etch stuff
as often as possible.
Did you check with Ray Ciemny? He had some black galvy done about six
months ago as I recall - he had a place within an hour of him do it. So
that's resonable travel for you as well.
Ralph

Subject: [TheForge] searching for black-galvanized chain
I am doing a repair job on a local, old cemetery. The
commission wants me to run very rust-resistant chain
between granite posts. The chain will be 3/8" stock,
250' long. So the question is...
I was hoping to find a place that sells
black-galvanized chain but was unable to find any via
the web. I called local galvanizers but the cost was
going to be very expensive. So does anyone know where
I can get "pre-made" black galvanized chain?
If I cant find anyplace, I plan on using regular
silver-galvanized and dye it with "Triblack G" which
is designed to patina galvanize black. Does anyone
have good/bad experience with this stuff?
Alternately if I could find some plastic coated stuff
like McMaster-Carr sells in black (all they have is
green) that would probably work too.
Thanks alot for your help,
Brian
