I don't know that much about the commercially available coke.  I know of three sources of coke - (1) the stuff resulting from the burning of coal AT A FORGE, and commercial materials resulting from partial combustion of (2) coal or (3) petroleum.  However, I don't know how to distinguish (2) from (3).  I presume that what we all get is (2), but have no facts to back that up.
