Just so. Snowed all day and just quit an hour or so ago. I was out
shovelling out the shop under the full moon. Quench tub froze up for
the first time night before last when it was 6 below.

Interesting problem. I have a rolling door on my shop and a pair of
toggle affairs inside to lock it. If I wanted something I could lock
from the outside, I'd try to kind of reverse the idea so I could pull
a rod out through a hole in the door, jointed with a pivot pin so it
would fold over and get padlocked in place.

But, alas, at least with the present setup, the engine doesn't have
enough power to get it up to speed. It will turn the hammer crank
okay (the previous oner never got it past TDC) but it lugs down to do
it and never recovers its (governed) 2400 RPM. So the engine is
working too hard and the hammer only partially raises the tup. I'm
going to tinker with it some before I give up and go to the backup
plan but it's buried in snow again just now.
The compressor project is going better: I have the motor turning the
right direction and a neighbor gave me a 60 gal. Halon tank rated for
600 PSI in really great condition. Just a tad of overkill there. :-)
So I just need the pressure switch and some plumbing stuff. Trip to
Halifax coming up.
