Hmmm, food for thought. I want to be clear that I am not argueing with you, 
I'm just looking for information, don't have an opinion one way or the other. 
One more question -

What does IR damage look like? I think it's obvious that we are not talking 
about an actual burn from thermal energy, so what are we talking about in terms 
of damage?
