This year, Apple introduced their line of Macs running on Intel
architecture, mostly on the dual-core processors. http://
www.apple.com/store

The $1299 iMac G5 competes with the $1299 iMac G5 Intel dual-core.
Who'dathunk?

Remains to be seen who will finally come out on top in the continuing
saga of The Great OS War.

Rumor has it Apple left off using the IBM PowerPC processors because
IBM either couldn't or wouldn't make the G5 run cool enough for
laptops or didn't think they could keep up making chips for Apple's
expected doubling of market share this year. (I'll wait to see that.)

IBM just lately announced the Power 6 processor, said to run reliably
at 4-5 Ghz and capable of 6 Ghz once perfected. They'll also heat
your house, but them's the breaks.

Now watch the bloatware come! Programmers can now make multi-Ghz
machines run like Kaypros. :)
