I should have known that, Frosty.  Dang.  And I just got it running,
too, and came in for a cup of cocoa.  Belt/pulley mismatch, wrong HP but
right RPM.  Pushes out air and doesn't make any clonking or grinding
noises.  I guess it's time for a shopping trip to Princess Auto but
instead I have to take that thing apart?  Dang.

Somewhere in the remnants of childish fantasy, I have a recollection
of a tale where the protagonist pushes a button and a machine just starts
working.  Probably nothing to it, though.
