Mike, smithing time has been hard to find here also. In my case, it has 
been due to bronchitis, which I am finally pulling out of (about 6 weeks 
worth). An itch I haven't been able to scratch.

I'm not sure I follow your compressor. If I'm reading the above right, 
it can be run up to 427 psi, and you want to run at 100 psi. I don't 
know a lot about compressors, but in the ones I've tangled with the 
pressure is limited by a pressure sensor. When the setpoint pressure is 
reached, the motor is shut off. Changing the compressor head rotation 
speed will just change how long it takes to reach setpoint pressure. Is 
your unit two stage, or does it take more than two stages to reach 427psi?
