Harry, the set hammer can also be used to cut metal.  One of the books I have told me how to do it.  It works well with sheet metal up to 3/16 or so.  

Put it in the vise with the line to be cut just above the jaw.  Set the set hammer horizontal to the metal at an angle and hit the set hammer with another hammer.  

The book said about using the edge of the anvil (that rings a bell..maybe it was there that I read it) in the same manner to shear the sheet metal.  But, this requires a striker.  I found that this works okay, but the Beverly works better.

I have acquired an alergy for beer,  but I do like barbeque.
