[TheForge] Cheap Tools @ Atwoods

Mostly, I like my two little Maquita 4 inch side grinders, because
they stand up / Also with they are light weight and easier to
control: I don't tend to grind into my flesh as often.

Dewalt tools: drills, saws , etc usually stand up OK for
me. Maybe it was a lemon, but I had a $65 Dewalt 4.5 grinder that
didn't last as long, didn't stand up to similar use as well as those
el cheapo $10 grinders from Harbor freight.

I had 3 of the $10 each harbor freight, 4.5 inch grinders. One was
3 years old, one was 2 years old and one was 1 year old. Mostly, I
tried to use one with a cut off disk, one with a grinding disk and
one with a steel brush. That saves time on not having to change disks.

When I was grinding welding joints on a rebuilt trailer, I put
grinding pads on all three of them and used them like it
was a relay race, as not to try and over heat these cheap tools.

The one with the wire brush finally quit. I fried / melted down the
plastic around the motor -brush electrode. When that happened, I
checked the brushes on both the other grinders, and replaced
the spring carbons "brushes". These have seen moderate
use. Anyway, now I am down to 2 of the el-cheapo blue harbor
freight side grinders. I do plan on ordering another, to use with
the wire brush. Saves a lot of time, not having to change disks so
much when working on a project.
