My boss at Gifford Engineering carried around a check for $2000 for
years. Every time he went in to buy a computer, the geeks there would
show him one but lapse rhapsodic about the new and better one coming
out next month, so he'd put the money back in his pocket. He finally
bought a pickup truck load of Kaypros from Andy Kay. Refurbed. He
stacked them in a closet, and ran his business with dbase and
WordStar on floppies. When a computer died, he could toss it and pull
another one out of the closet. <GRIN> No chance of someone stealing
his customer database either. I think he finally joined the rest of
us last year.
