I'll check out Weygers' book. I haven't looked at it for several years and
the things I'm interested in now are different than then.  It would probably
be a good idea to review all my book once a year, as my needs keep changing
and my memory fades.

   Alex Weygers has a shovel very similar in one of his blacksmithing how
   to  books.  There  might  be  some  value  in  checking  there.  Also,
   "Practical   Blacksmithing"   might   have  some  articles  on  shovel
   manufacture; the book is a collection og articles from a magazine from
   1890??? or so.
