[TheForge] Any recommendations on cutoff saws? Brands, etc?

I have a Harbor Freight 14" chop saw, one of those normally 69 or so , but
on sale for 49. I used a coupon and got it for less than $42.00 including
tax<G>. So long as it is not heavily loaded it does fine. I have found
that if I am cutting a piece that is flat instead of standing on the end
that the metal tends to melt and get gooey. I don't know if this is a fact
for all saws or if it's a fact of the type of metal blade that I am using.
Harbor Freight blade. Also the first cut or two on a new blade doesn't bite
well, and then I guess the surface gets worn off and it has tooth and works
better.
For years I have used an old Black and Decker brand Skill Saw with a metal
blade. Still use it where the chop saw won't cut (odd shapes). Yes, the
bearings are catching hell, but it's an older one that is sacrificial. I
clamp the work to the table with vice grips and start sawing.

Wood saws will work as a metal cut-off saw- A friend has been using one for
years, though I had some trepidation about the bearings...
