That's just flippin' priceless!

I have to remember that one for some power wheelchair so-called engineers.
They're masters of the one-size-fits-nobody-but-it-does-everything school of
design.

E.g: One company put out a really nice compact power base, but they forgot
that a user who weighed 350 pounds and needed a 20'X20' seat would have
pretty heavy legs. They had the footrest mounts made out of 5" of .060 wall
square tubing, supported at only one point where square tubing telescoped
into square tubing at a right angle. Kind of a "T" arrangement with the
crossbar MIG butt-welded.

Can you say: "Torque -- and Crrrrack!" I knew you could.

I ended up making new mounts with extra support points and a nice long lever
arm to counter the user weight. The manufacturer (ahem) adopted the design.

Shoulda sent 'em a bill -- and a Copyright notice! :)
