[TheForge] 1/2" electric handdrill

Albin, I picked up the Makita D handle 1/2" drill about 20 years ago - after
six post and beam houses and two barns under it's belt along with varied
metal use on my portable in field welding truck it has held up well.  Two
cords and a set of brushes has gotten it thru 20 years of use.  I'd buy
another one as soon as this one dies.

I also have a Milwaulkee 1/2" screwshooter series drill which is almost the
same age. I've gone thru more cords on it (but it's smaller and gets in
tighter spaces - so that is more than likely the reason. 

The thing with the variable speed triggers is if you use them on portable
welders - there is a DC charge running the control panels and the kick up
voltage can raise hell with them. So set the idle on the unit to power
before using variable speeds on engine driven generators and welders which
have kick up panels in them.  The switch will then hold up.  If not you get
about six kick ups and your variable speed trigger all of a sudden looses
it's lower end ability.

D-handle, not a hammer drill,  probably variable speed.  Mostly for drilling

in 4x4s and 6x6s etc.  Wood,  not for steel.

Mainly I'm looking for a manufacturer  who is going to make a quality 
product. Something that will hold up with time.
