I have had a number of Canon bubble jets over the years, and currently 
have a Epson Stylus Photo R220 and a Canon BJC 3010
I seem to prefer printers that have separate ink tanks... just purchase 
the refills that you need. The Epson has a neat feature that allows you 
to print directly on a printable cd or dvd.
I also have a HP 1210 scan print copy machine, works well also, used on 
Linux scan function does not work yet on Linux...
Many newer printers seem to have chips or id's in the tanks and 
cartridges that makes them hard to refill in that the printer rejects 
the cartridge and thinks that it is empty even though the tank has been 
refilled... if you are inclined to do that. 
My older Canon allows the tanks to be refilled, but the hp does not. 
Haven't tried the Epson as yet.
