[TheForge] Build a power hammer?

I think the last I heard Mr. Krause was having trouble
scaling it up. Heat maybe? I recall a discussion of a
home made self contained hammer literally smoking the
oil but don't remember who's it was.
Good question though Bob. Why not indeed? Mr. Krause's
valve scheme was pretty simple too as I recall. I
remember your sketch. My guess is you can build a
Kinyon type hammer from off the shelf parts using
refined plans. You can pick up a phone and talk to any
number of people who've built one or more. The
technology has been around at least since the Civil
war, probably longer so there're more examples around.
Simple isn't necessarily the same thing as easy either.
It's all a guess. Just because I think I can put a self
contained hammer together using a version of Massey's
02 valve scheme doesn't mean it's a time or cost
effective idea. Heck, it doesn't mean I can pull it off
at all. I think it's perspective though, for some
reason since getting a handle on the valving and scotch
yoke there hasn't been a problem I haven't seen at
least one clear solution to. The anvil will be a real
pain if I actually have to cast it though.

it ain't real.
Wrought iron is.
