The item you are talking about is cast not wrought, and was made for
relieving the area of a shoe that pinched the foot, by stretching the
leather. I've seen them for sale from $5 to $50 at the local flea.

Subject: [TheForge] Leather shoe adjusters

When purchasing a new pair of shoes, I found a pair but not the fit. The
person assisting me pulled out a pair of wrought iron tongs specifically for
adjust shoes and softening the leather. It had a round ring on one end and a
ball on the other. I didn't have a chance to measure these but it looked
like
an interesting, useful project.

Has anyone seen these or have some dimensions that would work? I have a
rought idea but curious if anyone has worked on something like this.

Thanks!

john
