Mike,
Sizing the gas valve was not hard as capacity is one of the major specs.

I am curious:  what is a pilot runner?

If it is an intermittent pilot igniter( Like a Honeywell S86) not a 
Direct Spark type or hot surface igniter, then use a pilot runner.
