[TheForge] The 4" rule continued

It is well to bemoan that rule, and do so loudly. If you ever find a way to
live with it conveniently our guardians of public safety may, in the name of
simple humanity (we well knew the burning desire of children to push their
heads through railings and strangle themselves), find a worse burden to lay
at your doors; something on the order of making bricks without straw.

For instance, how are we expected to prevent children from launching
themselves over those same railings, or down the stairs? Perhaps people
should be required to install child-proof escalators (kiddies might get
trapped in an elevator and suffer irreparable emotional damage), with
nannies to restrain the suicidal tykes from jumping out of their seats, and
psychologists to accompany and console them. As a matter of social justice
and equality for poor children, second story houses could be declared
unlawful for anyone who has kids and can't afford a properly organized staff
of child protection experts. It is only right to "level the playing field"
after all.

Speaking of leveling, there are indications of hideous increases in
earthquake activity (as documented beyond question by all the downtown land
owners who wish the public to expend a few billion tax dollars scraping that
ugly old viaduct out of the way of their waterfront views), so the logical
conclusion is that we must all reside in Teepees. Unfortunately, this brings
up the very real possibility of our little ones climbing an inclined slope
and falling to their deaths...a new safety commission will be needed to
study the problem.

Who would have thought that Chicken Little would come to run the government
when we first heard his story--it is awe inspiring!
Mikey

That would certainly constitute justifiable homicide. Actually, I
guess the proper term would be cockroachicide.
