My monster 1/4 " steel forge is 2nd forge I have bought in  15  years. I was 
the 4th  person to own it and I have had it at least  10  years. My  first was 
a coal/coke forge with a champion   blower.  Phoenix, Arizona has a dang 
anti-pollution  law and  I  decided to go to propane and got the beast from a 
friend. My next one  will  be stainless and will  keep it at least 16  inches  
long. I have my forge set up  about 4 feet off the floor of my shop.  I  like 
looking into the forge without having to bend over to see the color  of my steel. 
Most of my  work I  usually have from  4 to 6  pieces of 1/2 square stock in 
it at a time. I can see what piece is ready  to  beat on and slipping it back 
in I grab another piece. Doing my  railroad spike knives I usually keep  about 
4 of them in there at one  time.
