Duuuh.  (the Duuuh was for me not the other folks on this list)
Yes.  Carefully disassemble the bad battery and count the cells.
Disassemble the good battery and count the cells.  Remove some cells from
the good battery until the number of cells is the same as the bad battery.

All is well in the world.
