Billy, Billy Billy, It's quite simple really, my blueprint turned out to
require that size. Everyone one talks real big about forging it down and
for being a weenie for not doing it. This, as you all go about your
projects with your factory 1/2" and 3/8' stock. I don't see too many of
you grabbing a piece of metal from the pile and forging it down to size
before you start. This just happens to be the first time I have explored
trying to find some stock a little different from the standard size and I'm
surprised at how difficult if not impossible it is to find. How do people
build complicated machines in this country. I am only talking about 1 x
7/16 bar. They make 7/16 square, 7/16 round, and a lot of other in-between
sizes why not this size? I can very easily make do with a slightly larger
size or sand or forge it down (which by the way is what I plan to do).
Geeee, sorry for trying to look around. Next time I'm looking for a new
car I'll just take what ever is on the lot, even if it's not exactly what I
want. Bill
