[TheForge] Re: Odd size stock

You know Bill, I was going to suggest a set of rolls but it's reducing a
lousy 12' by 1/16". It'd take much longer to build the rolls than forge the
stock to size. Either could mean the difference between making bid or not.

I think it's an educational project and no I'm not taking a shot at you,
Oclala Bill did that for me. <grin> I've learned the hard way not to design
oddities into things unless they're unavoidable. The one that really stands
out in my memory were the 9/16" NF bolts I designed into a piece of
machinery. I don't recall what the piece of equipment was, but BOY do I
remember what a pain in the ass it turned out to be replacing those bolts
when they needed it!

Anyway, I'd just build a fire and get to hammering if I couldn't modify the
design.

On the serious side of this is your intentions. Do you do this as a hobby or
do you want to make a living at it? If you want to make a living you can NOT
afford to play games with bids or even more seriously, let your ego make
decisions for you. When Father owned his shop we used to attend the auctions
of the business' who's owners who made those kinds of mistakes.
