Well, bottles come in lots of shapes.  You might have to do some
"research" at your local bar to find one suited to your purpose...

Oh, I can find glass funnels, I just cringe at the thought of buying
one 
then breaking it after one use. <grin> Mike suggested glass forms so
you 
could see how well the refractory rammed up where my usual method is to
just 
keep hitting it till it stops compacting.

I don't know what shape I'll ultimately want to mount the burner to but
it's 
been my experience that smooth cones make for the least turbulence in
cases 
like this. It should undoubtably be a much more acute cone than the
plastic 
funnel I used but the pics I've seen say maybe not.

The shape of the top of a bottle while funnel-like would cause a lot of

turbulence. Turbulence might or might not be a bad thing where this
thing is 
concerned, I don't know, so I may get around to giving it a try. Still,
I 
have a whole set of plastic funnels shaped just like the top of a
bottle.
