New ones are still made in china and were imported still as of a couple
of years ago. I used to have a link to an online store that sold
them. I will look to find it. I never bought the new one, but my Dad
did. It is ok, but does not compare to a vintage american made one,
which are readily available on ebay. I went through a hand crank
mania a few years back and bought many of them, putting together a
conmplete knife shop with buffing and grinding all hand powered for my
scout metalworking class. I probably have thrity of them. I
recommend the old ones on ebay unless you are going to cut them up to
make something else out of it. Even then, some are comkon as dirt and
would be no loss.
