Hey Bob,

A good source for a large screw and nut is large water main valves.  At the 
scrap yard where I work we have a few left.  I grabbed a few of the small 
ones (1"D about 16" long)  The boss grabbed up most of the big ones after 
that one article with the vice design.  So I would check out your local 
scrap yard for old water main valves.
