Just picked up a Bantam Ironworker ( in real rough shape but fixable)
for scrap metal price (had to pull it out of a dumpster full of other
scrap, a three hour odessy given that my only tools were a truck, a come
along and a 80 year old neighbor to spot for me, but worth it since
still make the same exact machine for $4500) Also in the dumpster was
a large gear reduction unit with built in motor. She wanted fifteen
bucks for it. Don't know if it worked or if it was three phase or
single. Looked from the side like a z shape with the center bar being
straight verticle. The motor was at the top, and had a large dial that
was marked off with numbers. It (knob) turned semi freely. The lower
leg had gearing and a large shaft with sprocket on it. Very heavy. I
was too beat after loading the bantam to even contemplate it, plus I
don't have the space or current need for yet another gear reduction
unit, though it was pretty neat looking. I thought I would mention it
here since it would make a good base for a bar twister I expect. She
also had a large welding table still for sale ( like 8' x 12' .5" plate
top) and some steel racks. Most everything else is gone. Web site can
be foiund here with contact info: <http://www.texasautocraft.com/sale.htm>
