Salt will help, but tends to add to the problem of rust ing the shop --  
tongs, tools etc.  I you brine for some quenching and rince in the slack 
tub -- then from time to time drain and refill the slack tub.  When not in 
use my brine is stored outside in a covered 5 gallon bucket.  Slack tub is a 
15.5 gal stainless steel beer keg -- but it doesn't smell like beer.
