Dan,
Usually if something is eating belts there is another problem. Bad bearing,
something bound, or something interfearing. Your belt is just the weakest
point in the drive train. I had trouble with my mower deck last summer,
turned out to be a keeper had broken and let the shaft slide to the wrong
position on the bearing.
