I assume you are talking about ours?
Because I know a whole bunch of blacksmiths with graduate degrees in
blacksmithing- Carbondale, aka Southern Illinios, offers an MFA in
blacksmithing, and I know several guys who got their masters there as
long ago as the late 70's. Most notably Phillip Baldwin and Daryl
Meiers. So we have around 25 years of college educated blacksmiths
afoot here at home. Several community colleges around the country also
offer extensive blacksmithing classes- its hard to throw a rock in
Austin Texas, for example, without hitting someone with a 2 year degree
in blacksmithing. I meet young blacksmiths all the time up here in the
northwest with recent degrees from Carbondale. At the Richmond Kentucky
ABANA conference, the whole grad department was there, along with a
bunch of recent grads.
