Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos seem to be really concerned with
beryllium because of its use in nuclear stuff.  Here's some

Includes the email addresses (as of 2001) of some people who would
know the current state of Be safety tech.  If the moist wiper pads
described in the first file (above) are now available as a commercial
product, one could keep them on the shelf, file off a bit of suspect
material and test with the wipe before grinding, forging or whatever.
