Wrong novels, this was from Digital Fortress and the missing ring, not
the sound, but a ring for your finger, which was made of platinum (not
noted in the story line). I met Dan Brown about a year ago at a lecture
in Concord, NH. You also being a fan of his will be interested in his
comments; when asked about the controversy caused by the Mary Magdalene
being Jesus wife part, he said that the original version of the DaVinci
Code was written using the more popular theory presently held by
religious historians, that being that he survived the crucifixion and
went on to have a life in Greece with his wife Mary Magdalene. The one
about her being his wife, and pregnant at the time of his death is the
second most popular belief, but thought that the Church would never let
him get away telling it that way.

Yeah, but how do the vatican, DaVinci, ancient religions and CERN fit
in?

It is I who formed the blacksmith,
who fans the flame into a fire and
fashions a weapon fit for it's work.
