This sounds like the beginning of a novel, it's 1940 and the
Philippines are aware of the Japanese threat and seek ways to hide
their wealth. A platinum dealer decides that the best way to hide his
"product" would be right out in the open and casts himself a solid
platinum anvil, paints it black and puts in on a stump in his front
yard. 65 years pass and Bruce Freeman, visiting from New Jersey sees
the anvil and has to have it, not because it is platinum (he doesn't
know that), but because it has no ring. Dead silent when struck. He
ships it home to the States, and upon first use sees that the surface
is too soft and decides to re-harden it. oops!

hi my father is an automechanic here in the philippines, one time he
both a very old anvil that still has a very gud condition, The story
is this, my father both it at a junk shop then the owner of the junk
shop told my father that this piece is an antique one i am willing to
send some pictures if you are interested and we believed that this
piece is a collectible one it has a triangle mark on the both sides
and compare to an almost same size brandnew anvil, the antique anvil
weighs much much more and we suspect that it has platinum content. If
you're interested pls email me at thootith at yahoo.com
