Dan,
I've never used a rolling mill, but you can't go real thin with a press it
sucks the heat out of the work too fast. On our press 1/8" is about as far
as we can go. If we have to make something real thin we take it to about
1/4" on the press and then finish on the trip hammer. If you really need it
only .04" you probably need the rolling mill.

Subject: [TheForge] toys how many?
In a few months I will be moving so the shop building talk has been great.
The Phase you can never have too many tools fits me. But I do want to be
logical with the move and the expansion. I have a good air hammer and I am
going to build a hydraulic press. The question is a rolling mill is it worth
the time and space if you have both a press and a hammer? I've had 5
accounts wanting Damascus taken very thin .04" so I can see using it there
but then again you can get Very even with a press. Input....ideas?
