[TheForge] "DROP" Hammer

In response to Bruce's letter about the hammer: you are talking about a
"trip" hammer not a drop hammer. What Nick and Michael are refering to are
"drop" hammers, a ram raised vertically by power and dropped. You are
thinking of a trip hammer with a cog on the tail of a beam, raised by
another cog on a wheel. As the wheel turns the beam, which acts as a lever,
is raised to the point where the cogs disengage and the beam falls. Just
picking nits herre, but thought it worth mentioning.

As to a torsion bar, sound interesting, but a bit risky in the heat treat
dept. Will give it some thought as it would look better than a coil spring.

thanks,
Jonathan
