I think Jay is right on. An engine hoist, lift carts, hyraulic rams, and wheels are all key to moving crap around a shop. 

My dream toy is a fork truck. I have the room and the crap to move...;-)

As Archimedes said, "Give me a lever long enough and a place to stand and I can move the earth".

Another of my favorite Archemedian principles:

"To measure is to know".  The fore runner of measure twice, cut once.
