Well, I always thought that hammer control meant being in complete 
control of your hammer, starting with choosing the weight and shape of 
the head, the length and size of the handle, the placement of the grip, 
and the accuracy of both the striking force and placement of the blows 
best suited to both the smith and the project.

Guess since I had to give up being a farrier, I'm just a hobbyist- don't 
know nothing any more.
