	Steven,  Yes, Tom makes a version of that style hammer. Uri got the idea
from Habberman, who got it from who knows how many other European smiths'
who'd passed it down from the early times of metalworking.
	From my understanding it is a west european design of a hammer to resemble
a "fist".  It is made so the business ends of the hammer are fairly tight to
the handle so it doesn't tend to "twist" of veer easily and is easy to
control. If it comes with a three hour disertation on how to swing said
hammer - I could do with out that.........but the hammer itself is a great
design and does work well.

	Many folks make that type of hammer. The two I know of are Tom Clark and
Nathan Robertson(from Minnesota).  I have one that Tom made, and two that
Nathan made (and really like them a lot........use them every day).  The
real beauty of the hammer is the blunt peen that can be held parrallel to
the anvil for moving metal or tilted up or down by the handle to rapidly
accelerate the movement in spreading material.  I like that option.  I think
Tom gets $100 for his hammers(unless you take a class at his school - then I
think they are $75.  Nathan gets $60 for his.........they both make a nice
hammer.

Anyone use the Uri Hofi-style hammer?  Tom Clark of Ozark School of
Blacksmithing also has a version of this hammer.  Curiouis what your
thoughts are.
