It matters how fast the hammer is moving when it hits the workpiece.
And how hard you have to exert yourself to get it moving that fast or,
alternatively, what maximum speed you achieve when working at a
comfortable rate. Different balance, different grip, different
posture etc. would mean different terminal speed at a given level of
exertion and a different fatigue factor.

I have some more high-speed images and mean to get back to them Real
Soon Now. :-) It would be interesting to do a comparative high-speed
photo study of several smiths and/or hammers. But I don't know where
I'd get access to now to a suitable camera.
