Don,
Wmsbg will have to deal with the smithy itself.
On the money problem, my question is how many more people do you expect to attend? The smithy only holds just so many. Maybe the price has to go up?
Have you considered co-sponsorship with other groups? (A SURE money loss is not likely to be attractive, but if the potential for breaking even is there, cosponsorship may be viable.)
How about rethinking the event. I've come down twice for Wmsbg and Boone's. But I'd be interested in a 2-day quasi-blacksmithing event at Wmsbg. Maybe one day like it's been, and the other day including other activities around the area, like showing off existing ironwork.

Don,
Will there be another MASA day at Williamsburg to watch?

Bruce, et al;
Too early for a commitment from them as yet. There are significant problems
with the Anderson Forge and not sure just wassup. Termites have run up one
side and down the other. Roof leaks and the wind whistles through the
clapboards. Ken Schwarz has also proven that the existing structure is inaccurate in
many ways. He is lobbying for major rebuilding.
On another note, last year's attendance at the Blacksmith Days at
Williamsburg was very poor. It resulted in being a very costly expense to MASA. As
treasurer I need to encourage our board to carefully consider whether this event
is in the best interest of our organization. I will try and see it gets
worked out by Dec.
