I don't know what a french clip is. Maybe part of a wagon but I really have 
no idea. Folks used a lot of them in the late 19th century though.

There's only ONE way to learn smithing and that is beating metal. Books are 
good for telling you all kinds of stuff but doing is what'll actually do the 
teaching.

Oh you got me interested in what a 'French Clip' is.. sounds like a
European eupharism for giving someone a wedgy.. so I googled it and
all I could find was some form of decorative hairband. Let me know if
Google is correct in it's assumption ;o)
