[TheForge] Madison

Naaah. Thanks for the thought though<G>. Was hammering and selling at the
Atlanta Celtic Festival. Weather held back a bunch of tourists. Had an
excellent time, and one of my student workers (fella working on his PhD in
chemistry) came by and I stuck a hammer in his hand. When he and his room
mate were done, I told them that they now possessed something that no one
else in the world possessed. A hand hammered S hook, made by them!! I
think that they liked it. Though I had to admonish them several times to
address the metal properly, and to not hammer like a girl<G>. No offense
meant to the ladies here. But the average person walking up tends to hammer
very lightly<G>. What takes me one heat to draw and make the "whoop te do"
on the end takes on average 5-10 heats<G>. Well, and I've done it a bit
more<G>.

I have always thought Madison was an excellent conference, and I have always
gotten my "money's worth" before noon on Friday. Good folks, good
knowledge. I hope to make it next year!!

Woof

That's one thing about the blacksmith community that you don't see much
elsewhere. Good old fashioned honesty<G>.

It was good , Dave , we still all have hangovers and empty pockets.

Mike, not all of us; I actually sold more than I bought. Now I have to make
more stuff - and I can't drink firewater so no hangover. It was great to be
able to just leave stuff out and not worry about it. "Here's $$, I sold your
whiz dinkus while you were gone", was heard frequently...
