The Swan Forges that I have seen are blown forges (use a blower for air).
And they are set up to require 60 psi propane. Don't ask me why? (British
Practice Maybe?) They do seem to work well. Paul Garrett, at the John C.
Campbell Folk School, has one in his own shop and it works well. I know
about the 60 psi requirement because Paul had to get a special regulator
from his propane company to get that high pressure for his shop. Normal
pressure between the tank and the house here is 10 psi and then dropped with
a regulator before entering a home, for use in a stove, water heater and
furnace. Paul's local company did not have a problem with the 60 psi for a
shop but would never allow for a home.
Terry Ridder knows the code inside and out so it will be interesting to hear
his comments.
