I agree with Ries and Bill as well.
If you can fine an old Milwaukee, excellent. Skip the newer ones ( POS).
Ive a small pile of dead HF grinders in a corner.
With Makitas, it's usually the plastic switch linkage that gums up. I 
finally took a drill to the case and epoxyed in another switch.
Many mfg make a consumer line and and an industrial line..the latter 
cost more in the short run but you don't have to keep buying new ones.
The $50 refurbished Makitas or Dewalts seem to be the most tool for the 
money...have worn out 3 or 4 of the Makitas.
The first one i ever bought was a Shinko...it still runs just fine!....Pete
