Justin,

If after Nies' reply, you're looking for stuff, just had a talk with the guy
who owns the scrapyard I get a lot of my stuff from (he used his shear to
cut my steel in half for me this after noon), and he has a big brake for
sale. It's an old one, 1930s, he said, and was originally set up to run on a
line shaft, and is heavy. He said it was made by the company who used to
make them before Bridgeport put them out of business (am repeating my memory
of what he said, understanding I know nothing about brakes) by selling a
cheaper unit, and that he has about $1000 worth of tooling to go with it-
whole set up would cost $700.

If you're interested, I'll get you in contact with him- he's selling a bunch
of his stuff (I think I'll be getting a band saw from him for $25, and he'll
be giving me a price on a buzz box and an oxy/acet rig) and I had intended
to post it here, as soon as I get more details.

Everything I've gotten from him has been in excellent shape, just as he's
described, and very nicely priced- super guy to deal with.

If you're interested, it would give you an excuse to come up and meet,
before you go trundling off into the wilds of the Left Coast ;-)
