Music? Um, that's would be that sound you hear when the blower,
lineshaft, welder, grinders, exhaust fan, cut-off saw and compressor
are all off at the same time? :-)
When I got a shop with electricity, I set up my mid 60s reel to reel
tape deck and played The Band, Theolonius Monk and Vivaldi. Shop
atmosphere plus humidity ate the electronics within a year.
Now I have a cheap radio tuned to CBC on weekdays: mostly classical,
no commercials. Saturday afternoon on CBC is a choice of Fatuous Old
Farts (Saturday Afternoon at the Opera) and Impossibly Hip
20-Somethings (Definitely Not The Opera). Sunday is mostly nattering.
So weekends I listen to the sounds of nature.
Hey, I thought so-called "heavy metal" or "industrial" were supposed
to be inspired by the sounds of machinery and metal objects bashing
together, heard through Blade Runner phones. Since when does a
blacksmith need a recording to hear that? :-)
