I assume this is a serious question, Dan. Doug Hendrickson used about
3/16
when he demonstrated making one at the Asheville Conference. Lot of
work
the way Doug made them but they made a really nice frying pan. He of
course
but a really nice handle on it too. He used to get around $ 400 for
them I
think. He made them by forging around a male form made of steel using a
torch for heat and working around and around with torch and hammer.
When
done forging them he would remove all scale (can't remember if it was
acid
or sand blast -- maybe he used both at different times.) Then he would
condition the surface with cooking oil in the oven before selling them.
