Thanks to you all for the suggestions!
Between the tempil stick and the wood stick I should be able to suss 
this out.
The project is about ten feet of decorative garden fence, and the 
forging won't be too intricate, for the price. I just wanted to make 
some long, curved leaves out of angle stock. Did a couple of test pieces 
out of steel and got a beautiful natural curve and twist by just working 
the edges a bit under the hammer.
I'll probably be able to do a bunch of this cold, anyway, with a bit of 
annealing.
